Okami's Masterpiece, TENJINBAYASHI of UONUMA SHUZO

October 18, 2017

Located on the foot of mountains in the suburbs of Tokamachi city, UONUMA SHUZO brews sake with sake rice produced in Niigata prefecture and with water from the underground stream of the Uonuma mountain range. Regarding the taste, we stick to producing Umakuchi, flavored tasty sake, which is unique in Niigata prefecture whose sake trend is Karakuchi, dry taste.

UONUMA SHUZO lately sells some portion of their sake in specially designed art bottles. They are produced in the regional collaboration with an art festival named ‘Daichi no Geijutsusai’ held in Tokamachi city in Niigata prefecture. They have won many art awards such as a ‘D&AD Award’ recognized as the world top design awards, ‘Tokyo TDC Award’ and ‘Gold Asian Design Awards’.
Another thing I would really want you to know about UONUMA SHUZO is its most attractive Okami, Ms. Mitsuko Yamaguchi. I was amazed at first sight of TENJINBAYASHI Art Bottles to see Okami carefully wrapping them herself one by one. She wraps them with minute attention not to wrinkle its top Mizuhiki (paper strings) part. You can feel her utmost hospitality in such delicate work.
I am sure that their uncompromising dedication in sake production makes their sake so delicious.
